Bay County
Bay County, Florida is located in the Florida Panhandle. A popular Spring Break retreat, Bay county is home to the cities of Callaway, Cedar Grove, Lynn Haven, Mexico Beach, Panama City, Panama City Beach, Parker, and unicorporated Bay County. According to recent population studies, Bay County has a population of almost 175,000 people. The major employer, aside from the county government, is the Tyndall Air Force Base. The Bay County Sheriffs Office, along with the municipal police agencies, are responsible for issuing almost 25,000 infraction citations per year. A majority of these citations are for unlawful speed. Aside from speeding tickets, the police in Bay County issued almost 3,000 citations for careless driving and running a red light.
All law enforcement agencies in the county have zero tolerance on DUI drivers. Almost 1,000 people are arrested annually for DUI. Most of these arrests were conducted by the local law enforcement officers. Almost 5,000 of the 8,000 criminal citations written were for driver license issues.
